The thesis "Evaluation of urban environments, a method to measure experience" (LTH 2009) developed a scientifically validated method to gain knowledge about the public's experience of places and neighborhoods as basis for urban design in a time- and cost-effective manner. The doctoral thesis use the Circumplex as a model for measurement of people’s inner emotional response to a specific location. The results of emotional experiences of a location are presented in radial graphs which gives an immediate image of the performance and quality of the location measured.
